For the 2010 model year, General Motors has introduced their version of the flip (switch blade) key. The vehicles equipped with this keyed remote are the 2010 Chevrolet Camaro and Equinox, GMC Terrain and Buick LaCrosse. The key blade is attached to the remote using a roll pin that is not easy to remove. STRATTEC has introduced the GM Flip/Pin Fixture, part number 7017699, a punch and a non-metallic holding fixture for the remote. There is a slot in the fixture to position the partially open blade in order to have access to the roll pin. The fixture is designed to protect the remote from damage as the roll pin is being removed.

AD SMARTCARD TECHNOLOGY
The Advanced Diagnostics SmartCard System is a service option that eliminates the need for Internet access to obtain security codes for Toyota, Honda and Jaguar vehicles. Advanced Diagnostics has introduced this option to increase the level of security and to help prevent technology piracy.
The SmartCard System is preprogrammed to the Advanced Diagnostics programming device. When the device is connected to the vehicle and the SmartCard has been activated, the security codes can be determined without Internet access. This is an advantage, as not all areas have Internet access, and even if there is Internet access it is not normally available in underground or above ground parking structures.
The SmartCard System is designed for only the Tcode Pro and the MVP Pro.

It appears that Kia is having a problem with the key codes on their invoices again. The key codes on the invoices do not agree with the locks’ key codes. Most of the problems are a wrong prefix letter. For example, the 2010 Kia Rio has a code series of K0001-K2500. Some invoices have the letter “V” instead of “K”. The V0001-V1200 series of codes was used on the 2009 model Rio. Always check the Vehicle Identification Number for the model year to make sure that a code series is correct. When in doubt, post the question on the Locksmith Ledger forum. Whether it is a 1937 Parkard or a 2010 Kia Rio, we either have the correct code information or know who does.
SHACKLE-EQUIPPED GROUND ANCHORS
Shackle-equipped ground anchors provide a convenient locking point to attach a chain or cable type lock in order to secure an object such as a bicycle, toolbox, etc. Some contain a flip-up heavy gauge steel shackle with body covering into which the shackle is not an obstruction when not in use. Shackle-equipped ground anchors are designed to be bolted to fixed objects including the ground (cement) or walls, and moveable objects including a truck bed or a trailer.
An example of the shackle equipped ground anchor is the Kryptonite Stronghold Anchor, an above ground model that is 7.5” in diameter. Kryptonite is a division of Ingersoll Rand.
